After winning the Skagit Art Association scholarship, Ryan Barnes obtained the privilege of displaying his work at the Art in a Pickle Barn show throughout the month of April during the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival which attracts both a local and international audience. The annual scholarship recognizes the importance of art as a whole and is meant to encourage and welcome new members to the field.

Skagit Valley College hosts an annual juried student artshow allowing any student to submit their finished artwork assignment from an art class they took during the previous year. Ryan Barnes submitted a few of his art pieces but it was Flowers in a Coke Glass that won first prize.

MWR Bavaria Arts & Crafts store had a booth featuring US Service Members and Veteran artists alike at the city of Grafenwöhr's annual Annamarie & Annafest Festival in Bavaria Germany. Ryan Barnes submitted pieces he created while on the weekends while serving in the US Army and living at Tower Barracks.
