This portrait features a close up depiction of the artist Ryan Barnes' daughter's eye. Created in charcoal on paper, Ryan wanted to test his skills in the medium, composition, and see how far he could go. Ryan spent a meticulous amount of time rendering the iris and the reflection of the landscape which he did last to reduce the risk of smudging charcoal.
